There are many sewing and crafty blogs, but I kept finding myself wishing that there would be one geared specifically toward Mennonite sewing ideas. Sometimes I simply needed an idea, some fresh inspiration for a sewing project. And so this blog was born.

I pondered for days about the name, and finally thought of Proverbs 31. The virtuous women is quite the seamstress, clothing her family with scarlet, seeking wool and flax, and making coverings of tapestry. I’m not an expert in understanding the Bible, but it would appear that she not only clothed her household but she made beautiful garments. Verse 22 tells us that her clothing is silk and purple. These verses assure me that dressing modestly doesn’t need to be frumpy or plain in order to please the Lord.

I hope that you will find Coverings of Tapestry to be fun and inspiring.
